The Vilas County snowmobile trail system, including all state-funded and club-funded trails, will open for the season at 8am Friday, January 17.
Please note that trails are in early-season riding conditions, please watch your speed and stay to the right. The current snow base is not very deep, and the trail base is ice, so use caution when entering corners, accelerating, and braking. With low snow conditions, it’s important that riders stay on marked trails, routes, and lake crossings—off-trail riding is trespassing and could result in closure or loss of trails and fines for snowmobilers who do not stay on marked trails.
Thank you to the snowmobile clubs of Vilas County for their many hours of hard work to get the trails ready for the season. Club maps are available at many area businesses, and the free Map It Vilas County trails app also includes information about the county’s snowmobile trails.
