A new combination ATV-UTV-snowmobile trail is now open between McKinley Boulevard and Chain O’ Lakes Road in Eagle River. The trail eliminates an 18-mile trip for ATVs and UTVs to access businesses between these two roads and allows for better snowmobile traffic and trail grooming.
The county also has plans to establish other connecting routes that will reduce ATV/UTV traffic on McKinley Boulevard.
The trail project was funded with grants from the Recreational Trails Program, the Wisconsin DNR Snowmobile Trail Aids Grant and the Wisconsin ATV/UTV Trails Aid Grant.
Vilas County is home to 37.3 miles of designated trails and hundreds of miles of road routes for ATVs and UTVs and 496 miles of funded snowmobile trails. For more information, visit the Vilas County Forestry, Recreation & Land Department’s website or call them at (715) 479-5160.
