Scenic Ride: County Loop
Looking to explore Vilas County from east to west and north to south? This 122-mile route, which can be broken up into smaller sections if you want to stretch the voyage into a couple days, makes a loop around the entire county and passes through the communities of Eagle River, Phelps, Land O’ Lakes, Presque Isle, Winchester, Manitowish Waters, Arbor Vitae, and St. Germain. Along the way, you’ll pass through sections of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest and along the shores of nearly two dozen Northwoods lakes, including Lac Vieux Desert, Big and Little Arbor Vitae Lakes, and Big St. Germain Lake.
