Get out and enjoy the Northwoods’ amazing scenery or find a well-maintained rink where you can glide across the ice as you explore Vilas County’s amazing opportunities for ice skating.
Vilas County’s newest ice skating attraction, The Glide, can be found at Boulder Junction Winter Park. The Glide is a 0.8-mile ice skating ribbon that circles the park, which sits amid the scenic Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. (There is also a dedicated skating rink at the park; both facilities are lighted to allow nighttime skating.)
Other ice skating rink locations include:
-
- The Snowflake Ice Rink, located behind Town Hall in Land O’ Lakes
- The Vilas County Fairgrounds on Forrest Street in Eagle River
- Conover Town Park off County Highway K (on Park Circle)
- Brandy Park on Brandy Beach Road in Arbor Vitae
- Community Park in St. Germain (inside the pavilion), Highway 70 and 155; open from 6am to 11pm
- Community Park, Lake Street in Sayner
When conditions allow (lakes must be frozen and not snow-covered), wild skating on Vilas County’s lakes is a great way to get out and enjoy northern Wisconsin winters. Please exercise caution anytime you venture onto frozen lakes in the winter.
