Zip liner zipping between fall trees at Northwoods Zip Line Adventure Tours

The Minocqua Area in southern Vilas County is home to two unique attractions that allow visitors to get out and explore the Northwoods of Wisconsin from a different perspective.

Northwoods Zip Line

Northwoods Zip Line is open year-round, offering Wisconsin’s largest and longest and extremely scenic zipline tours. There are a wide range of options for visitors, including canopy tours, aerial treks across bridges and other obstacles and more. The Full Adventure Tour—one of the largest in the Midwest—includes 13 zip lines (two of which pass over scenic Northwoods lakes), 14 aerial obstacles and four adventure bridges. If you’ve got young ones, kids as young as 3 can take the kids’ tour, which allows them to safely traverse zip lines and adventure bridges.

It’s not just ziplining, either—Northwoods Zip Line also offers guided tours of the Tomahawk River (suitable for ages 5 and up) and a first-of-its-kind Argo ATV tour of a 900-acre whitetail deer game farm.

Minocqua Winter Park

If you’re headed to the Minocqua Area in the winter months, you shouldn’t miss Minocqua Winter Park, one of the most popular cross-country skiing centers in the Midwest.

Minocqua Winter Park occupies 6,500 acres of Northwoods wilderness about 14 miles southwest of downtown Minocqua. It’s home to 86km (over 50 miles) of expertly groomed cross-country skiing trails that wind through quiet upland forests, with segments for all skill levels. The trail system includes 15km of single-track classic trails and a 2km lighted trail. Skiers will also find firepits and shelters along the trail.

Minocqua Winter Park is also home to 10 miles of snowshoe trails, 20km of multi-use trails open to fatbiking, an ice skating pond and snow tubing.
