The Vilas County snowmobile trail system, including all state-funded and club-funded trails, will open for the season at 8am, Friday, December 19.
Please note that trails are in early-season riding conditions, so please watch your speed and stay to the right. Use caution when entering corners, accelerating, and braking. It’s crucial riders stay on marked trails, routes, and lake crossings—off-trail riding is trespassing and could result in closure or loss of trails and fines for snowmobilers who do not stay on marked trails. All lakes are unsafe and dangerous until they are marked, and then, please stay on the marked portion.
Thank you to the snowmobile clubs of Vilas County for their many hours of hard work to get the trails ready for the season. Club maps are available at many area businesses, and the free Map It Vilas County trails app also includes information about the county’s snowmobile trails.
